From the outset Ashton Build presented in a professional and respectful manner, listening to our ideas and offering advice. He maintained contact appropriately during the planning phase of our project talking us through the process so we understood each step.

The agreed start date was set, adhered to and was far enough in advance to allow us to make all the preparations we needed to have in place prior to the renovations beginning. Having agreed the scope of the work they prepared a budget that was what we expected and at project completion was accurate.

When we started looking at our project we asked around friends and family to get references of builders to ask to quote on our major refurb.

Ashton Build came highly recommended from our relations who had worked with them, and knew the level of his work.

Right from the tender stage of the project their communication was great. He would always come back in line with our requests and if the time lines were too tight he would let us know.

During the negotiation phase - their conduct was professional and we built up trust from the start of the project.

They were also happy for us to visit other projects that they had worked on, to again build the trust.

When work got underway, the team were on site when they said they would be, and progress was fast and as per the schedule that was negotiated.

If any issue or problem arose that needed our input, they would always call and walk us through the issue and possible solutions that would work well.

All variations to the initial scope of the project were flagged by Ashton Build well in front of time. With all variations they would run through options as well as cost implications and then send through contract information to ensure there were no cost over runs to what was agreed.

Their co-ordination of all the sub trades was another positive - the quality of their work was of a very good standard and they were very vigilant to ensure that they all went the extra mile.

The project went a couple of weeks over the initial plan, however this was due to variations and was well managed by them to get us back into our home as soon as possible.

My focus was to ensure the finish was of a very high standard - Ashton Build achieved this - I would have no hesitation to recommending them for your next project.

Grant and his team carried out renovations on our 110 year old villa over the summer of 2011/12. We are extremely pleased with the level of finish that has been achieved and would strongly recommend Ashton Builders to anyone considering a renovation, small or large.

One of the things that we found particularly impressive was the relationship between each of the builders, and their conduct while they were at our home. We lived in the house throughout the renovation process (approximately 14 weeks), and never witnessed any irritation or anxiety among the builders which of course would have rubbed off on us. The builders were always considerate, helpful and friendly, respectful and tidy.

Grant is an extremely approachable and responsible project manager. At least two or three times a week Grant would talk to us to ask us whether we were satisfied with all aspects of the job and whether there was anything he needed to know. He was always ready to accept feedback, and act upon it immediately.

Having completed the first half of our renovation now we look forward to working with Grant in the next 12 months to carry out stage two of our building work.
